Today, after consultation with the community, Mayoral Candidate Matt Marchand announced his economic plan to align City spending into community priorities.
The Marchand for Mayor Campaign represents a fundamental shift in current City policy by reprioritizing and reallocating resources with community priorities. “It’s time to match community needs with investment,” said Marchand.
Vision: Enhance the quality of life for citizens of Windsor for a more livable community by redirecting City spending to reflect community priorities.
Plan: Align Capital investment with community priorities.
- Items to be Eliminated, Reduced, and Reallocated to Match Community Needs: $226.75 million over 10 years (see attached backgrounder).
- Implement a 1% tax increase.
- Accelerate implementation of the Sewer Master Plan for quicker relief of flooded basements from 10 to 6 years. There is a cost savings to doing this quicker, lessening the burden on taxpayers.
“This economic plan is a fundamental change from the status quo. We are going to match community priorities with investment,” said Marchand.
